The BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design course were recipients of The Queen’s Anniversary Prize in the Twelfth Round 2016 - 2018 for ‘Distinguished degree level education in costume design for the UK’s leading creative industries’. The course has a strong national and international reputation for providing top quality graduates who can work effectively within the film and theatre industries. Graduates from this course have great team working abilities and an understanding of the power of creating characters true to their environment. Studying within a collegiate learning environment, the course promotes professionalism and technical ability across its specialisms.
In September 2020, the Film Costume pathway of the course will become it's own dedicated degree, named BA (Hons) Performance Design and Film Costume.
The collaborative nature of the course, which thrives on an element of ‘live’ work, ensures students are prepared for Industry on graduation. For over 25 years, the course has produced strong alumni across the disciplines of theatre, film and television in costume interpretation, costume supervision, scenography and costume design for screen.

Third year Costume and Performance Design student Jennifer Miller has been shortlisted for a top industry award. The Patterns of Fashion award at The Costume Society honours the work of dress historian, Janet Arnold, who was a founder member of the society.
